Shopify CRO

More sales from the traffic you already have

If your store gets visitors but not enough of them buy, more traffic just costs more money. Shopify CRO finds where shoppers hesitate and fixes it: product pages, mobile layout, cart, checkout and offers, measured so you know what worked.

What does Shopify conversion rate optimisation involve?

Shopify conversion rate optimisation covers research, product pages, cart and checkout, offers, testing and speed and mobile. Most stores lose buyers in the same places: product pages that do not answer the questions people have, mobile layouts that hide the add-to-cart button, surprise delivery costs and slow pages. Anthony McGrath does the work himself, with 22 years in digital marketing, for businesses in the UK, the US, Dubai and Australia.

Why Shopify stores leak sales

Most stores lose buyers in the same places: product pages that do not answer the questions people have, mobile layouts that hide the add-to-cart button, surprise delivery costs and slow pages. Each one is fixable.

Because I build Shopify themes as well as running CRO, fixes go straight into your theme properly, instead of being bolted on with testing tools that slow the store down.

Before and after

An example of a three-month Shopify CRO programme on a mid-sized store.

  • Conversion rate: 1.5% before, 2.2% after
  • Add-to-cart rate: 5.8% before, 8.1% after
  • Average order value: 62 before, 71 after
  • Revenue from the same traffic: 100k a month before, 166k a month after

An example of the kind of change this work aims for, based on typical starting points. It is not a promise or a specific client result: every business starts somewhere different. Money figures are shown without a currency: the same pattern applies in pounds, dollars, dirhams or Australian dollars.

  2. Plan and priceA clear written plan: what gets built, in what order, how long it takes and what it costs.
  3. Build and testBuilt on a copy of your store, tested on real phones, then checked again before anything goes live.
  4. Launch and supportLaunched with tracking checked, then support afterwards so nothing is left half-finished.

Questions

What is a good conversion rate for Shopify?

Many stores convert between 1% and 3%, depending on the product, price and traffic. The useful question is what your store converts at today and what is stopping it going higher.

Do I need lots of traffic for CRO?

A/B testing needs a fair amount of traffic, but many improvements are clear wins that can be made and measured before and after, even on smaller stores.

How quickly will I see results?

Quick fixes often show within weeks. A full programme usually runs for three months to find and prove the bigger wins.

Will CRO tools slow my store down?

Some do. I keep testing scripts light and build winning changes into the theme itself, so the store stays fast.
