Sources and method

Percentages copied from the W3Techs 'Versions of WordPress' chart, which shows the share of websites using WordPress that run each major version, dated 29 October 2026.

Topic option chosen: WordPress version usage from W3Techs (freely readable). PHP version usage was also readable but has only four major versions, below the five-row minimum; W3Techs shows PHP 8 on 65.7%, PHP 7 on 26.5%, PHP 5 on 7.7% and PHP 4 on 0.1% of PHP sites. BuiltWith's ecommerce page was readable but mixes platforms with add-ons and covers only the top million sites, so it was not used. Within version 7, W3Techs shows 81.2% on 7.1 and 18.8% on 7.0. WordPress is used by 39.5% of all websites.
